Welcome to my new blog!

Its been quite a week one way and another.
The week started with Mothers Day, which was good. I got spoiled (chocolate for breakfast and a meal out in the evening). Jade Goody passed away - not so good. Ive never been able to understand the public's fascination with her. Clearly she was a very ordinary person who claimed her ten minutes of fame. Was it a case of people being comforted by their own superiority to her? Inevitably there have been opposing perspectives on her death and the subsequent media feeding fest. Even Gordon Brown got in on the act. Someone likened her to Princess Di - stretching things a bit, I thought. Love her or loath her she was a canny businesswoman - 4 million left to her kids. She has succeeded in raising awareness for cervical cancer - this can only be a good thing. For all of the people who commented that many young women die in unfortunate circumstances and leave young children - yes they do but we don't know who they are. I'm sure the public sympathy would go to all of them too.
